“The garden of desire”
Mubei’s new works demonstrate brand new content and forms. Although dominated by black and white, these works can give you a very strong visual shock. The image is the abstract depiction of Poppy flowers, but the implication is quite profound. Actually, the painter is questioning where the fate and spirit of people in today’s society is going. When you staring at a poppy flower, what begin to unfold gradually in front of you is the beauty, vanity, sadness, desire, weirdness, evil, trembling, life and death as well as the brightness and blankness of life, which resembles the visual icon of the desire of human being. The innovation in forms and content present a mysterious pattern of life. Unlike his past works, the abstractness is transformed and the subtle change in the new vision, perspective and conception reflects that the painter’s unremitting pursuit in art, his entrepreneurial spirit and his passion, longing and desire. Mubei’s approach and concept towards art shows his concern about people’s inner world, which is in consistent with his past works.
